How to Upgrade RAM on the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17ALC6

Overview

The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17ALC6 is a great laptop for working and playing games. It comes with 8GB of RAM, which is enough for most tasks. However, some users may find that the RAM is not enough for their needs. Fortunately, the RAM in the IdeaPad 3 17ALC6 is upgradable, so you can increase the RAM to 16GB or 32GB if you need more power.

Tools You Need

Before you start, you will need the following tools:

Phillips #1 screwdriver
RAM memory module
Anti-static wrist strap (optional, but recommended)

Step 1: Shut Down the Laptop and Remove the Battery

Before you start, make sure to shut down the laptop and remove the battery. After the laptop is shut down, unplug the power cord and remove the battery.

Step 2: Remove the Bottom Panel

Once the battery is removed, turn the laptop over and locate the screws on the bottom panel. Remove the screws using the Phillips #1 screwdriver and set them aside.

Step 3: Remove the RAM Module

Once the screws are removed, you can remove the bottom panel. Inside, you will see the RAM module. Gently pull the RAM module out of the slot and set it aside. Make sure to discharge any static electricity from your body with an anti-static wrist strap before touching the RAM module.

Step 4: Install the New RAM Module

Take the new RAM module and insert it into the slot. Make sure to line up the notch on the RAM module with the notch on the slot. Push the RAM module firmly into the slot until it clicks into place.

Step 5: Replace the Bottom Panel and Battery

Once the RAM module is in place, replace the bottom panel and screws. Then, replace the battery and plug in the power cord. Finally, turn on the laptop and you should see the new RAM recognized in the BIOS.
